Anihan sends 2.3 Million Check of Prayers to Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict XVI may be far away from Calamba, Laguna but he is very close to our hearts.

In response to his proclamation of the Year of Faith from October 2012 to November 2013, we began a campaign for 1 Million Prayers for the Church, the Pope, all Christians and everyone.

Together with the Sunday and weekday Masses, rosaries, visits to the Blessed Sacrament, and other prayers, we were confident we would reach the mark with the many hours of intense study and work that we could offer up as prayer.

After the Pope's announcement last February 11, we wanted to already send him a "check" representing the prayers we were able to "collect". We ourselves were happily surprised with the result that far exceeded our target because it showed each one's effort to live the Year of Faith earnestly.

We sent the "check" below to the Pope last week as a way of saying Thank You for all he has done for the Church and the world.

Sta. Elena Golf Club Chef Commends Anihan Scholars

Chef Joseph Go, Sta. Elena Golf Club Executive Chef, recently expressed his praises for the Anihan Scholars doing their on-the-job-training (OJT) in the exclusive golf club located in Canlubang, Laguna.

In particular, he told Anihan's Training and Alumnae Coordinator, Maria Senen Olmos, that the two Anihan scholars assigned in the kitchen are doing very well... They are able to cook and prepare our menu dishes. They are both fast learners and have very good team spirit. Words cannot describe how happy I am and how lucky we are to have both of them training in our kitchen. They are very hardworking.

Anihan Scholars: From Training to Employment

Here is a slideshow of some of the Anihan Scholars who will be graduating in April 2013. Because of their good performance in their training venues, many of them are already assured of immediate employment right after graduation.

Their scholarship program consists of NC II training in Commercial Cooking, Food and Beverage Services, and Bread and Pastry Production.
