Fifty-three Anihan Scholars Graduate in 2014: 96% now already employed

Update (15 April 2014): Fifty-one (51) out of the fifty-three (53) Anihan graduates are now gainfully employed. The remaining two have chosen to continue studying.

Fifty-three Anihan scholars graduated on Friday, 7 March 2014. It was Anihan's 27th Commencement Exercises. The graduates finished Anihan's Food Service program and possess the following qualifications: Commercial Cooking NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II.

Held at Anihan's multi-purpose hall, the graduation ceremony was highlighted by the inspirational message from guest speaker Mrs. Mary Grace Dimacali, owner of Mary Grace Café, and by a testimonial from Ms. Jane Clarish Fraginal, Anihan 2013 graduate and now the head baker of Wildflour (Podium branch).

The Anihan 2014 Graduates perform their graduation song

Just like the cozy, welcoming ambiance of Mary Grace Café, Mrs. Dimacali’s words struck the heart and the head of the new graduates. The parents and guests also easily related to her warm and friendly manner and down-to-earth message. Read her message here.

Earlier in the program, Anihan 2013 graduate Jane Clarish, talked about how the scholarship training program in Anihan helped her overcome her shyness and be competent at work. So much so, that after graduation she was employed at the Wildflour and was soon offered the position of head baker at its Podium branch. Being only nineteen years old, she herself could not believe it at first.

Special Awards

Awards and recipients on this day were:

On-the-Job-Training Excellence Award – Vilyn So (OJT – Rambla; employment – Rambla); Maela May Bagaporo (OJT – Rambla; employment – Rambla); Maureen Abiera (OJT – Tagaytay Conference Center/TCC; employment – TCC)

Leadership Award – Dyan Cleo Crisostomo (OJT – LES Bagels; employment – Wildflour). Dyan delivered the Address from the Graduates.

Outstanding Service

Another important moment during the event was the awarding of a plaque of recognition to Ms. Macaria Javier, Anihan School Director. After having been with Anihan for twenty-seven years, that is, since the beginning of Anihan, Ms. Javier has decided to officially retire this year.

Immediate Employment

Immediate employment is an important feature of Anihan's training program. Today, just one week after their graduation, 90% of these graduates have already been accepted for employment, most of them in their respective on-the-job-training venues.
