Dannica Soriano, Anihan 2006 graduate and now part of The Palms Country Club, was a member of the team under Chef Hans Neukom who won the 1st Runner-up place in the MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge last October 24, 2007.

A Leadership Awardee of Anihan, Dannica did her on-the-job-training (OJT) in The Palms. Right after graduation, The Palms hired her, together with six other Anihan graduates, upon Executive Chef Hans Neukom's recommendation.

MLA Black Box Culinary Challenge is organized yearly by the Meat & Livestock Australia, and endorsed by Les Toques Blanches Philippines and World Association of Chefs Societies to honor talents in the regional F&B industry. The Palms received another award for Best Table Display.

Leap of Faith

On 15 February 2008, two Anihan students took the leap of Faith and were received into the Catholic Church.

Baptism 2008 (3)

In a liturgical ceremony held in the Anihan chapel, April and Rona, now Mary April and Rona Therese, received the sacraments of Christian initiation, that is, the sacraments of (adult) Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist (their first Holy Communion).

Baptism 2008 (11)

Baptism 2008 (9)

With permission from the parish priest, the school chaplain administered the three sacraments as Mary April and Rona Therese's schoolmates all witnessed the moving event. Godmothers were a friend of Mary's mother and Therese's employer.

Baptism 2008 (15)

The occasion was made especially moving by the preparatory formation that these two underwent in order to fulfill their desires of being baptized as Catholics.

Confirmed!

A total of 19 Anihan students received the Sacrament of Confirmation last 8 February, Friday. His Excellency Bishop Leo Drona of the Diocese of San Pablo administered the sacrament to the Anihan students together with other students residing and/or living in the parish of Makiling, Calamba.

It was a very memorable occasion especially since all the "confirmed" were reminded of how, through this sacrament of Christian initiation, they were going to receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit that enables their soul to grow in the grace received at Baptism.

Asked about her impression of the event, one Anihan student said that now she understands what it means to be a "soldier of Christ"--that together with living out her faith, she also has the grace to bring it to other persons and protect it from harm.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is administered by the Catholic Church to all the faithful who have already been baptized. Some of its effects in the Christian is to root him more deeply in divine sonship, bind him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorate the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. It gives a special strength to witness to the Christian faith (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 268).

The spiritual formation imparted in Anihan is entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church that promotes the exercise of exemplary virtues in ordinary work.
