Also present were no less than Ms Linabelle Ruth Villarica (Governor, Soroptimist International of the Philippine Region) and Ms Leonor Berroya (District Director-Elect of Metro Manila Southeast District).

Ms Javier was recognized for her almost two decades of work in Anihan Technical School which helps young women in the CALABARZON area by giving them access to education and skills training. To date, Anihan has trained at least 650 women for the food service industry.

On 18 April 2008, forty-two more young women who have received a two-year scholarship from Anihan will graduate. They will be qualified for the Hotel and Restaurant Industry, particularly in Commercial Cooking, Food & Beverage Services, and Baking/Pastry Production.

Other MADWA awardees of the different Soroptimist clubs in the Metro Manila Southeast District were also recognized on that day. One of them was a young high school girl from the Rosehill school in Antipolo, Ms Isabel Patricia Raya. She received the Violet Richardson Award which is a recognition given to young women, aged between 14 to 17 years, who stand out for their voluntary work.
